Want to brew quality beer at home from scratch? Brew and Grow offers home brewers a class demonstrating practical, advanced brewing techniques!  

During the Advanced Home Brewing class, the instructor will discuss the types of equipment utilized in All-Grain brewing, in depth guidance for recipe formulation, the basics of treating water, mash pH and milling of grain while preparing to brew a batch of beer during the 2 ½ - 3 hour class.

While presenting ideas for formulating successful recipes, the instructor provides an overview of working with grain, hops and yeast in the planning and execution of the recipe. The majority of the class emphasizes practical techniques used in mashing, sparging and lautering, including demonstrating procedures and providing hands on experience. Throughout the class, the instructor supplies plenty of practical tips and tricks for successfully producing a beer from conception to dough-in to run-off.

To further enhance the class participants brewing skills, the instructor and attendees will play, “Name that Ingredient!” Designed to improve the attendees ability to decipher the possible types of malt, hops and yeast in a beer, the instructor and class participants will evaluate the beer visually, aromatically and by tasting, guessing the ingredients used in the beers production.  Finally, the instructor will reveal the actual recipe of the tasted beer. Don’t worry! Relax! Incorrect guesses will not be met with jeers but with encouragement to speculate on the ingredients of the next beer.

The fee for the Advanced Class is $35.
