Perlite is made from volcanic glass and will never dissolve or rot. All plant roots need air - perlite mixed in the soil allows the life giving air to reach even the tiniest of roots. Perlite also helps water to soak into the soil instead of running off, giving your plants the needed moisture during dry spells. We also carry vermiculite which holds more water.
