Hersbrucker is a traditional German hop variety from the Hersbruck area, exhibiting citrus, black tea, marjoram and ginger. With a pleasant hop aroma, Hersbrucker is often specified in lagers, pilsners, bock, weizen bock, wheat, Belgian-Style Ales, Kolsch and Munich Helles.

Typical A.A: 2.0 – 5.0 %

Possible Substitutions: Mt. Hood, French Strisselspalt

Application Tip:

For Oktoberfest and Vienna Styles, Hersbrucker provides an earthy, floral counterpoint to the maltiness from Vienna and Munich malts in the beer.

For Kolsch, the earthiness and ginger complements the malty, bready, slight acidic qualities of the style.

The earthy qualities of the varietal provides a smooth clean aroma for German pilsners.
