Adopted from a British brewery, the 1332 strain produces ales with characteristics reminiscent of British ales: fruity nose and upfront bitterness.
For fermenting cream or blonde ales, the Northwest Yeast imparts a mild fruitiness to complement Noble hop varieties such as Czech Saaz or Hallertau Mittelfruh. Dry hop with American varieties such as Ahtanum or Citra to complete the flavor and aroma profile of the style.
In aggressively hopped American Brown ales, the strain still accentuates enough caramel/crystal to provide the correct amount of counterpoint to hops such as Cascade, Centennial and Nelson Sauvin, especially with piney producing dry hop additions.
Produces tasty British bitters using traditional English hop varieties like East Kent Goldings or Fuggles.
