Star San provides home brewers with an effective acid based sanitizer designed to eliminate bacterial organisms and create sanitized surfaces for the proper processing of wort and fermented beverages.
Following a thorough cleaning of equipment with PBW or other oxygen based cleaner, soak brewing equipment in a solution of Star San and cool tap water by mixing one fluid ounce of Star San per 5 – gallons of water. Highly effective, Star San sanitizes equipment within 1 minute of contact time.
Do not rinse as rinsing will re-introduce bacteria to the surfaces of the equipment.
Following boiling and chilling operations, anything touching wort should touch the solution of Star San and water first!
For cleaning nooks and crannies of equipment, Star San was designed to foam. Don’t fear the foam.
Each bottle is manufactured with an internal measuring device for proper dosing.
Eventually, Star San will turn straight tap water white in color. For the most effective outcomes, create a new batch of Star San as needed to achieve proper sanitation during each brewing operation. Do not store and reuse Star San solution created from straight tap water.
