Crisp, clean, and easy to drink describes Kölsch ale. Less hoppy and a touch sweeter, the straw-yellow hue reflects the utilization of pale malts and a minimal amount of wheat. With characteristics similar to pilsners, the unique flavor and aroma is best achieved from fermenting the style with liquid Kölsch yeast.

To upgrade the yeast to a liquid culture, purchase the Wyeast 2563 Kölsch Ale yeast separately. Providing mild fruitiness similar to ale and clean characteristics of a lager, the strain ferments dry and crisp, without a hint of diacetyl. (Additional yeast sold separately.)
