METAL HALIDE SOLUTION - CHOOSING THE CORRECT WATTAGE

STEP 2: WHAT ARE YOUR GROW AREA DIMENSIONS?

Determining what wattage you should use for your grow area is an important step for growing healthy plants. Plants need light to grow and therefore having adequate lighting should be one of your key concerns. The amount of light needed will vary depending on the size of your grow room and the mounting height of the reflector (how far the light source is above your plants). We recommend these general guidelines when choosing what wattage you should select.

250 watts = covers approximately 6 sq. ft.
400 watts = covers approximately 10 sq. ft.
1000 watts = covers approximately 25 sq. ft.

  • 250W
  • 400W
Covers approximately 10 sq. ft.  Once you click the "select" button you will be brought to STEP 3 where you choose your ballast, bulb, and reflector.  Please read the details of each option and select what is best suited for your needs.  When choosing a reflector be aware of the shape and how it might distribute the light.  Also some reflectors have the option for air cooling (AC).  Choose these reflectors if heat could be a potential issue in your grow room.
