The Thames Valley strain produces classic British bitters with a rich, complex flavor profile. Creating a light malt character, the 1275 yeast provides low fruitiness, low esters and is clean and well balanced.
Temperature Range: 62-72° F (16-22° C)
Alcohol Tolerance: Approximately 10% ABV
Styles: Brown Porter, Dry Stout, Düsseldorf Altbier, Extra Special/Strong Bitter (English Pale Ale), Foreign Extra Stout, Northern English Brown Ale, Robust Porter, Special/Best/Premium Bitter, Standard/Ordinary Bitter
For British bitters, the 1275 strain ferments all gravity levels for the styles of Ordinary, Special and ESB’s. Definitely less fruity than the 1968 strain, the Thames Valley accentuates malt and hop character, producing hoppy Pale Ale’s in the Burton-on -Trent style in conjunction with Burton Salts added to the mash.
