With herbal notes and sweet refined floral characteristics, German Tradition provides medium intensity flavors and aromas in a wide range of German style lagers.
With aromas and flavors described as cassis, peach, apricot, citrus and orange, German Tradition supplies flavors and aromas similar to Hallertau Mittelfruh.
Typical A. A: 4 – 7%
Possible Substitutes: Liberty Hallertau Mittelfruh
Application Tip:
For Maibock, add Tradition with 60 minutes remaining in the boil to provide a smooth pleasant bitterness.
For Black Lager, add Tradition at 45 minutes remaining in the boil, to complement the bittering addition of German Opal at 60 minutes remaining. With 3 additions of Hallertau Mittelfruh at 30, 20 and 15 and Tettnang at 5 minutes, the aforementioned combination of hops blends well with the mild chocolaty, roasty flavors of de-husked Carafa malts.
