Utilized mainly for bittering additions, Target provides a pleasant but intense English hop aroma. Considered a good high alpha variety with an acceptable kettle hop aroma, Target will often be employed as the bittering hop in styles of ales and lagers typical of the British Isles. Target offers a distinct spicy, floral, sage and citrus qualities to the finished beer. An excellent bittering hop, Target tends to be too harsh for flavor additions.

Possible Substitutions: Fuggle, Willamette
For best results, employ Target as a bittering hop in styles such as English Barley Wine, Porter, Foreign Extra Stout. The bitterness is quite clean and especially complements styles with dark malts.
