A citrusy all-purpose hop, Centennial’s aroma’s and flavors are reminiscent of a well-ripened grapefruit and/or blood orange. While a good alternative to Cascade, the hop provides an intensely and distinctive floral aroma, quite unlike most other hop varieties.
Chinook provides a mild to medium-heavy, spicy, distinct piney aroma. With flavors and aroma’s of Fennel, Basil, Elderberry, Lychee, Red berries, Chinook is a high alpha acid hop with a more than acceptable aroma profile. Delivering piney and resinous aromas, especially as a dry hopping addition, Chinook was originally developed as a bittering hop.
An excellent high alpha variety with balanced bittering and aroma characteristics, Galena is mainly used for bittering, but has found favor as a dual – purpose variety. Quite bitter, Galena blends well with finishing hops. Suitable for all beer styles, especially American Ales and Lagers.
A traditional IPA hop, Nugget exhibits intense bittering quality, providing herbal and spicy notes. With high alpha acids and good aroma profile, the varietal functions predominantly as a bittering hop in American style ales and lagers.
A dual-purpose and uniquely American hybrid hop, Simcoe may be used as a bittering hop. The variety provides a clean, pine-like aroma and flavoring with a slight hint of citrus. Less astringent than other piney hops, Simcoe has been highly sought after for creating distinctive and unique Pale Ales.
Considered a general-purpose bittering hop, Warrior offers a neutral, clean bittering primarily in ale styles. With a high alpha range and a relative low cohumulone content, the varietal has a smooth, pleasing bitterness with a quite mild aroma especially for IPA and pale ale styles.
With no real distinct aroma characteristics, Magnum is viewed favorably as a clean bittering hop for a wide range of Ales and Lagers. Having gained acceptance in craft beer brewing, Magnum often comprises the majority of the bittering qualities in numerous commercial pale ale’s and Imperial styles.
Noted for a sharp bittering quality, Brewers Gold imparts a fruity, spicy aroma and flavor.
