Designed as Bitter-less Black Malt, BlackPrinz delivers subtle, smooth flavor without tannic, astringent, dry flavors or aftertaste in the finished beer. Delivering delicate, clean, mild, roasted malt flavor, the grain produces dark brown to black tones depending on the amount specified in the recipe.
Produced from hull-less barley, BlackPrinz functions as a 1:1 replacement for de-bittered black malt. With a noticeably smooth flavor, Blackprinz is manufactured by removing every bit of the husk. Previous versions of de-bittered black malts merely removed a portion of the hull, leaving the finished beer with astringent, dry and tannic flavors.
Blackprinz® Malt contributes identical color characteristics as Black Malt minus the bitter, astringent, dry flavors or aftertaste.
Utilized in Black IPAs, Black Lagers, Black Ales, Schwarzbiers and other darker styles, BlackPrinz creates deep, rich coloration with mere hints of subtle roasted flavor.
Use Rate: 1 – 10 %

For color adjustment with little to no flavor impact in light colored lagers and ales, specify 1 – 2% in the grist. To provide coloration and subtle flavor, specify 2 – 5% BlackPrinz in the recipe. In larger quantities of 5 – 10%, BlackPrinz provides rich dark hues and mild, roasty malt flavors and aromas.
