Thomas Fawcett and Sons

Without Diastatic power, Amber malt is a more toasted form of pale ale malt and is typically utilized in Brown Porter recipes. Utilized as a faceting malt in bitters and pale milds. Thomas Fawcett Amber malt delivers a strong toasted slightly roasted flavor with a hint of a dry mild coffee flavor depending on the amount specified in the malt bill. As a character malt for IPA's, Amber malt  can also be used in Amber, Red and some Belgian styles.

Application Tip:

For a unique, slightly toasty version of an English Ordinary Bitter, specify a malt bill with 88.2% UK Pale ale malt, 5.9% Amber malt and 5.9% TF&S 45L Crystal Malt. For the hops, add UK Brewers Gold at 60 minutes remaining for a total of  29.2 IBU’s and add in 1 oz.  of UK Fuggles hops per 5 – gallons of wort. Ferment with Wyeast 1318 London Ale III yeast. O.G. 1.042
