Utilizing the traditional combination of pilsner malt, rice and corn adjuncts, the American Light recipe kit produces a light-bodied, refreshing and thirst quenching beer. Easy to brew, the classic American style provides an excellent entry to craft brewing.
Contents of the kit include: ingredients, bottle caps, priming sugar, and brewing procedures.
Fermentables: 3.3 pounds of Light Liquid Malt Extract (LME); 1 pound of Pilsen Dried Malt Extract (DME); 8 ounces of Corn Sugar; and 8 ounces of Rice Syrup Solids.
Hops: 1/2 ounce of Brewer's Gold hops and a 1/2 ounce pack of Cluster (hops may vary due to availability).
Yeast: 1 sachet.

To upgrade the yeast to a liquid culture, purchase the Wyeast 1272 All American Ale yeast separately. Providing an appealing tart fruitiness, the strain ferments soft, dry and crisp, allowing the hops to really pop. (Additional yeast sold separately.)
To further add a floral and citrusy hop character to the American Light Ale, dry hop the beer for 3 days with of 1 oz. NZ Hallertau Aroma. Following the finish of fermentation, add the hops to the primary for 3 days before siphoning to secondary. Alternatively, siphon the fermented beer to the secondary fermentor and add the hops to the beer 3 days prior to packaging. (Additional hops sold separately.)
