The dual scale refractometer is unique, featuring both Brix and a Specific Gravity readings. Designed to determine the density of liquids, the refractometer provides accurate measurement of sugar content in beer worts, wine, mead and cider must in Brix from 0 – 32 % and SG from 1.000 – 1.120. Easily calibrated and precise, the refractometer is built for the professionally minded beer, wine, cider and mead maker. And exact measurement allows for quick and correct adjustments to worts and musts prior to fermentation.
For Wine making: Measure brix (concentrated sugar level) in grapes before crushing procedures.
For Beer Making: A refractometer is an essential tool for taking gravity readings at any point before, after or during the boil.
Refractometer features Automatic Temperature Compensation (ATC) allowing for accurate measurements of wort and must samples in an ambient temperature range of 50 - 86F (10-30 C).
The refractometer is hand held with a metal body, flexible eye piece and rubber grip. Unit is equipped with a manual calibration screw and the screw is secured in place with a lock nut. To calibrate, place 2-3 drops of distilled water on the testing platform and adjust to zero if necessary by turning calibration screw.
