Produced from 6 – row winter barley, Cara Blond provides a light caramel character while improving foam stability in the finished beer. For slight color correction, the Cara malt may be added in small percentages to lighter hued beers such as Pilsners, Munich Helles, Blonde ale, Cream ale, Pale ale, Golden ale or any other styles requiring a touch of caramel enhancement.

For lighter hued beers still requiring a bit of color such as, Cream ales or even Blondes, Cara Blond provides color correction and caramel flavors, but use sparingly with no more than a few ounces in a 5 – gallon batch or 1 -5% of the total malt bill.
For a 5 – gallon version of Belgian Tripel, specify a recipe with 5lbs of Pilsen Dried Malt extract, 3.3 lbs. Pilsen Liquid Malt extract, 1 lb. Cara Blond and 1 lb. Pale Candi Sugar Syrup. Hop the wort with ½ German Perle hops and 1 oz. Celeia Hops at 60 minutes remaining. With 15 minutes remaining in the boil, add in 1 oz. German Hallertau Mittelfruh along with .30 oz ground coriander seed and ¼ oz Sweet Orange Pell. Ferment the wort with Wyeast Belgian Abbey I yeast (1214).
